The Blood-stained Rocky Terrain

The blood-stained rocky terrain, often blamed for cutting bare, unprotected feet,

wonders why those who chose paths both unusual and alluring

were not prepared to face the sharpness of accumulated pain.

The rocks hold so much character, each atom carrying memories of bygone eras, hard lessons etched into their grain.

They know they will stand alone, while the world walks over them, never stopping to feel the ache of the path that bore thousands toward their destinations.

Unmoved, misunderstood, they remain— silent witnesses to endurance.

And I, too, am such terrain
-scarred, steadfast, my jagged edges misunderstood, yet every fracture holds a story, every wound a truth.

One day, perhaps the world will pause
in the stillness,
the rocks and I will finally be seen.

  1. There are penetrating truths inscribed in the imagery (brilliant as always), Reena, especially as the terrain and the traverser become one and the same. Each carved and carving. This makes one wonder if we are as free as we think we are in the choice of the terrain of our lives and the paths we take.
