“A rich man’s son below 18 years without a driving license… speeding in a Lamborghini… the life of a bright, earnest student cut short for the sake of an Instagram reel.”
Now, meet the son of an army officer, who is the key witness in this case.
He doesn’t chase clout because he’s seen courage up close—quiet, disciplined, lived every day.
He doesn’t flaunt privilege because he knows values are the only wealth that can’t be taken away.
He doesn’t need speed to feel powerful because he is grounded in his value system.
And maybe it’s time we all asked—what are we raising, privilege or principles?”

I asked myself this long ago and tried to raise principles. I’m not sure I succeeded so well as the army family, but mine are all working and doing as they should.

Congratulations! It is an achievement in this day and age.
Armed forces do not face the commercial market or have business targets, as in other sectors. They work for their country. IMO, it helps them follow and inculcate a better value system.

I get tired of hearing the word “unprecedented ” when someone is thoughtless and causes harm. I get the feeling that talk is cheap, when poor values are clear. Just stop; no means no, for everyone. Due process, then consequences.

You are right. But media needs phrases to make their headlines look sensational.

Thought-provoking six sentences, Reena. It is getting scarier day by day. Justice is only for the privileged class.

They buy justice and exemption from the law.

Unfortunately this is increasingly the exception rather than the rule.

Oh, this is excellent, Reena! Unlimited privilege doesn’t mean being irresponsible, though it seems situations with tragic endings happen too frequently.

We hear of a case almost every week. The culprits are let off because they are minor and cannot be detained for more than three years. People are asking for a change in law with the slogan – 15 is the new 18.

I wish they would change some laws here or at least abide by the ones we have.

Reena, this is a sharp piece of writing turning a news headline into a philosophical debate – it’s not just reporting a crime; it diagnoses a cultural shift🙌

It is not a positive cultural shift.

Anytime. I wish parents can differentiate between long term values and short term gratification.

A succinct parable, six sentences well spent. Such a great question to sum it up.

To share privilege without teaching the effort to get there is always bad.

Flaunting status is imperative for some, and it is the root cause of problems.

A very good question for all of us. An excellent Six.

The post contrasts two realities: unlimited privilege that ends in tragedy and an education based on values, discipline, and responsibility.
It leaves us with a powerful question: beyond money or fame, are we educating children in principles and conscience, or only in comfort and appearances?

The latest is an “unlicensed” kid running a Scorpio over a 23 year old boy – son of a single parent brought up in hardship. From where do they get the audacity to experiment with somebody else’s life ?
