A river does not remain a river when it merges into the ocean, but surely it did not want to remain so.
Rivulets regret their decision because they jumped into the flow without gauging where it would take them.
The ocean smiles at its victory, while making the whole process look so effortless and smooth.
A force to be reckoned with in business had soon turned himself into a caricature after losing the election. He was in august company, in the same place where his politician friends once reveled and were later caught under the news channels’ negative lens.
And in that vast ocean of forgotten power, he realized too late that victory had always belonged to the tide.

I think your writing captures too many politicians. Well done. It is unfortunate that the true power of the people cannot be harnessed to get the ‘twits’ out of office sooner than later.

May it be so. Even as the lies of business success are revealed, a few of the tributaries still poison the ocean. The ocean is vast and changeable, yes? Still holding on to hope…

Both the tributaries and ocean are barely recognisable.

Agreed. We need a great creature from the depths to rise and stir the muddy soup.

‘the moving finger writes; and having writ, moves on…’
evocative but then, one might ask, ‘what of the arm?’
are raindrops the ocean trying (and failing) to fly
