Did I hear truth shrieking loud – underground?
It was buried alive – lies took a walk
I withdrew my extended hand – confused
Not a whimper of protest, not a sound –
Is the world dumb, forgotten how to talk?
Did I hear truth shrieking loud – underground?
It was buried alive – lies took a walk
They say-what goes around will come around
But when? And how many times round the block?
Justice delayed is denied – don’t look shocked
Did I hear truth shrieking loud – underground?
It was buried alive – lies took a walk
I withdrew my extended hand – confused

Many of us are confused, and wonder at the lack of insider protests and action. Great poem, Reena!

This is a great contemporary poem in the Roundel form. The title is so compelling, and I love the bewilderment embodied in the line: “I withdrew my extended hand – confused”.
We live in bewildering times.

So much truth is being buried… waiting for it to come out seems futile.

A most thought provoking roundel, Reena! Bold. Brave. Confronting. In your face perfection.

Isn’t that the kind of Evil we are facing? They have no fears. We have.

And to think I grew up naive enough to think we were done with Nazis and their ilk, genocidists, only greed was still on the table – and now…

I wonder why human beings need to put down others to make themselves relevant. Is the world so crowded that we cannot carve a niche for our identities?

Reena, I wonder this very thing often:
But when? And how many times round the block?
