I want a dress
that changes colour
to crack my perception
and yours
let it show a different shade
by mixing colours
-a hue that
neither names me
nor reflects you
but the interaction
with unsaid words
-a tint
I watch
but don’t touch

I want a dress
that gets me labelled
a chameleon
for it reveals
myriad versions of me
-unapologetic
-unassuming
-unmoved

I want a dress
that provides space
to float and flow
go high or low
assume shapes
to match the colour
I want to dissolve in
emerge unscathed
and go on with life
as if it was not me

yet nothing comes closer
to being me
in that moment
