When Walls Speak

“Walls have ears” is a saying she’d often heard.

She was back in her grandfather’s crumbling mansion to check if the walls had memory. They had eavesdropped on and absorbed family secrets for decades.

The portrait of her exquisitely beautiful great-grandmother fell as she came near it, revealing a hole behind. It was a path to the past.

Whatever she found wasn’t so lovely — a sack with human bones and a pot of gold coins.

She walked out with the treasure, leaving dark secrets behind.

  1. Love this micro-tale Reena, on the proverb “walls have ears”, a reminder that even the most private spaces might betray secrets. The twist here is effective, not only are the walls listening, they’re remembering🙌.
