I still can’t believe that our school allows the students to have phones in class. Many teachers (who have to do more admin than actual teaching) use them as pacifiers. It’s horrific for me to see.

Yes, that is the scene everywhere.
In some cases, teachers ask the students to Google information on certain topics.

In a culture where students often take the teachers word on everything I, too, ask my students to Google information and work things out for themselves. Wise tool use.

When you find something more interested to replace it 😊 For me, the shift is from books to screens (it saves space too), but the visual mode continues.
