“Should you buy the white?”
A headline on my screen sets me thinking. It alludes to bullion prices, where silver appears to be riding on the gold wave. But I am transported to another zone.
In my late years, should I settle for the neutrality of white as against the dense wisdom of black? Is it necessary to break the comfort zone built painstakingly over decades, to embrace a new existence, a new me? My next level will remain unborn if I don’t chuck my old self out.

Great haibun, Reena! I love the idea of needing to rid yourself of the old to make space for the new.

I really like how you’ve turned an investment question into something personal and reflective, Reena. That shift from silver and gold to white and black feels both bold and poetic.

Maybe investing in silver is good… but even more important is the investment in self
