I walked through
-gardens overladen with Hope
withering away;
as Reality thunder struck
-centuries of silence
When wisdom allowed
power to grow amok
-cities of helplessness
with handcuffed righteousness
rotting in jails that suck
-lifetimes of evolution
of a mute soul
with feathers plucked
I passed through
light years of territories
still no compass caught my luck

Wow, Reena! That was quite powerful. Great poem!

Great verses full of expressive depth Reena. I was struck by the tremendous power in the poignant imagery of:
“….cities of helplessness
with handcuffed righteousness…” ~ Superb!

In retrospect, I think I should have said ‘nations’ not ‘cities’. 😂

Oh “nations” is great too, both cities and nations, excellent choices for the broader communities beyond the self, I feel. Thanks for the added insight, Reena. Much appreciated.
