I did not ask to be here
but then who does?
shadows laugh in derision
then disappear with the sun
The night is dark, sands still
I’ll infuse silence with words
Give me a quill
No rescue comes, but I no longer wait
I conjure realms and recalibrate
The sky bends to blow my mind
I am the myth I came to find

Myth is a wonderful poem, Reena. A poem of metamorphosis—beginning in alienation and ending in self-defined myth.
I love these lines:
“No rescue comes, but I no longer wait
I conjure realms and recalibrate”
Your poem has a beautiful timeless quality. Bravo 👏

Reena, “I conjure realms and recalibrate” really strikes me—it feels like an act of survival and sovereignty. The whole piece carries a quiet defiance that I find incredibly resonant.

Reena, I read your poem as the moment solitude shifts from sentence or judgment to sovereignty. There’s no flinching here, just a clear-eyed reckoning that bends language to its will. “I conjure realms and recalibrate” says it all. Rescue is redundant when you’ve already rewritten the map.
And that last line? That absolutely skewers it. You don’t need gods or heroes when you’ve become the story. It’s a far more poetic version of what I mutter to myself some days: “I’m a legend in my own bath time”. But yours has starlight, not collapsing soap suds.

Your poem brilliantly captures the transformative power of creativity. The journey from despair to self-empowerment is beautifully crafted, with that final line delivering stunning impact.
