Sunglasses are like eye shadow. They make everything look young and pretty.
Karl Lagerfeld
Life is more than sunglasses and hit movies.
I am drawn to the use of sunglasses by actors, as seen in these quotes.
They are candid enough to admit that it lends to their personalities more than any other accessory. What perplexes me is their act of wearing sunglasses on the stage during evening shows. It makes the effort very obvious. Clothes and makeup are always there. Sunglasses at night look tacky.
Some of them wear it at the airport for late-night flights. There is an apparent effort to conceal their identity and avoid being mobbed, but it only serves to draw more attention. It feels like conceit when the lesser-known stars or starlets, as they are known, over-assume their popularity.
Somehow, actors fail to see themselves as professionals doing a job. Terms like ‘celebrities’ and ‘stars’ serve to inflate egos.
INTERESTING TIDBITS
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, a former Miss World and an internationally renowned actor, is a permanent presence at Cannes, known for her films including Provoked, Pink Panther, The Mistress of Spices, and The Last Legion. She played the role of Enron CEO Rebecca Mark in the 2007 Hindi movie Sarkar Raj. She bought a pair of Gucci sunglasses for a million rupees ($ 11,700) for the role and billed it to the producer.
These things might be everyday today, but they were deemed extravagances more than two decades ago.
And of course, she took the pair of sunglasses home 😊

I spent $500 on a pair of sunglasses, and I really liked them a lot and I only had them a short time before they fell out of my pocket and I stepped on them, and they were destroyed. I don’t have a problem with people spending their money they way they want to, but I try to consider durability along with fashion. Thanks for sharing your story, Reena.

I lost a pair of prescription glasses in the same manner. And it kind of incapacitates you till you get a replacement.

I love your interesting tidbit! I wear prescription sunglasses anytime I’m outside, because of my cataracts’ surgery.

I can’t go out in the sun without sunglasses, as I tend to squint while looking up and that’s bad for both the surrounding skin and eyes. Yes, photochromatic glasses are the best option.
