“All I remember about the girl is two strands of auburn hair hanging on her forehead and menacing eyes”, said the victim of an attack, his head still dizzy with the almost fatal blow.
“Does she remind you of someone who belongs to your past?” The investigating officer’s tone is cold and matter-of-fact, in stark contrast to the victim’s disoriented state.
“No, I would never date a girl with criminal instincts.”
The officer’s forehead is creased as he scans the list of history-sheeters in police records, his mind racing with possibilities. He finds the victim’s name, a flicker of recognition crossing his face.
Of the two, who is the attacker and who is the victim?

ah ha? (the start of a serial or serial-ette?*)

I always write to prompts before I read… I didn’t see your piece on your previous prompt so I just went looking for something you wrote. Police seem to be on our minds.
Interesting… who is the vititm indeed?

That’s a good strategy. We don’t get influenced by what others have written.

It sounds like he faked an attack on himself for some reason.
