Writing Prompts

Welcome back!

PROMPT #382

I came across a beautiful write-up on Brainpickings.org on the subject of creativity.

To be alone at your desk or in your studio is not enough. You have to free yourself from the phantoms and inner critics who pursue you wherever you go. “When you start working,” said the composer John Cage, “everybody is in your studio — the past, your friends, enemies, the art world, and above all, your own ideas — all are there. But as you continue painting, they start leaving, one by one, and you are left completely alone. Then, if you are lucky, even you leave.”

The prompt for this week is to use the last line or just its spirit in your piece.

It is not necessary that your theme is creativity. You can use the words as you deem appropriate. Enjambment is also fine.

There is no restriction on the length or format of the piece. There is no last date unless you wish to be featured in the Weekly Wrap.

We will not include any posts that are found to be offensive, vulgar or hurt ordinary sensibilities. This needs to be a safe space.

Create a post on your blog and copy-paste the link in the Comments. If you use a pingback, check to see if it has worked.
