the tree with a thorny, black fruit looms large
and it was only yesterday she sowed the seed
her backyard is a botanical lab
where she plants good and evil
Evil
grows at a faster pace
as it finds a foothold
in neural pathways of brains
and keeps repeating itself
in loops and more loops
in circular narratives
where every thought
hits the same boundary
and bounces back with greater vigour
The good takes a linear path
to reach a faraway destination
gathers wisdom along the way
but somehow disconnects
from the people it was intended
to influence
it becomes the unfamiliar enemy
to be looked at with suspicion
-the one that got away
crossed boundaries
ventured into the unknown
the village idiot with no defined goal
the vagabond
who cannot spell success
the good and impossible will take a little while
in making people believe their existence
Meanwhile,
Evil assumes myriad shapes
meets people at home
jumps out of TV screens
sets up opinion shops on YouTube
and social media
posing as a well-wisher
-keeps people busy
so they never find time
to seek good
beyond the boundaries
of a wispy existence

Wisdom here, Reena, and you make it leap out at us with every image and phrase. Well done.

Beautiful poetry. Social media only shows the reader what their belief system is. Better to look at the world around us, and keep evil at bay.

How creative this response is. I love it, specially the way evil makes it easy for us to be distracted with social media and other superficial stuff that we forget to find the good beyond what we see. Thanks for joining in.

Very well done, Reena. I love how it takes work to live and believe the good, while evils is what we want to hear and swallowed, hook, line, and sinker!

Dark little poem, Reena. Let’s hope Good breaks through and brings us to it.

Hope keeps us alive.
I read an article yesterday about surpassing AI in creativity, by creating but keeping it off the internet. It makes our work exclusive. Not sure how much of it can be implemented, but it offers a good strategy.
