they came
they studied all the loopholes
they conquered…
a fortress was built
original inhabitants banished
those who lived inside
were bound by loyalty
and ESOPs
brick-by-brick
they constructed deceit
all those who made a profit
turned a blind eye
the tyrant ruled
the tyrant fell
people wonder how
and why
the ground beneath his feet
gave away
a semblance of unity
holds them together
to protect sinful secrets
till they build another
chaotic netherworld

Not monopoly, but real life!

One tyrant replaced only by another, seems to be the sum of human history, though we may feed ourselves with false hopes.

Yes. You reminded me of Animal Farm by George Orwell.

the magic is that many times such lines were written by the same people doing to deceit at deeper level.

Magic or another level of deceit? 😀 A fraudster always has excellent social and communication skills because they need to win trust.

Exceptional write, Reena.

A very sad image of a corrupted megapolis… and we are so easily fooled by the image of those rulers.

Those images are carefully constructed illusions.
