Singlehood

Singlehood is often seen as a waiting period before settling into a committed relationship, but it is a fulfilling and joyful way of life for many. The freedom of being single is unmatched—there are no compromises on daily choices, no obligations to meet a partner’s expectations, and no pressure to conform to societal norms of love and marriage. This is the truest form of power, not being empowered by others but being born with it.

One can make decisions without considering another person’s preferences. It’s about the personal growth and self-discovery that this autonomy fosters, allowing individuals to understand themselves without the lens of imposed expectations.

Another advantage is avoiding the complexities of managing relationships with a partner’s family. Hostile in-laws, cultural clashes, and family expectations can create unnecessary stress. Being single means having the peace of mind that comes with setting personal boundaries without interference, providing a sense of security and tranquillity.

Furthermore, single individuals are free from societal expectations tied to relationships —there is no pressure to marry by a certain age, raise children, or fit into predefined roles. They can explore life on their terms, embracing adventure, solitude, and self-love. It’s a life of liberation, where you can be your true, free-spirited self.

winds whisper my name,
unchained steps on open roads,
I belong to me.

  1. Nice write-up on singlehood, Reena. I think being single is better for young people than it is for older people, as it gives them time to decide how they want to live their lives and who they want to be in this world, where older people have probably figured all of that out already.

All I needed to read.😅 That’s the best part of being single, no discussing, debating, compromising. Not that those things are of no value, but life is definitely simpler without it on a daily basis.
