I dropped the fork and blew the candles, blinded by the glow on my plate.
It is a wedge of the moon sitting atop the slice of cake.
“Where do you draw your light from on this dark New Moon night?”
“I stole it from your dreams to drive you towards newer goals.”
My daughter steps out of the kitchen with her half-shed apron to ask, “How do you like my sugar craft, Dad?”
“Wonderful, honey, the sweetness spoke to me before I took a bite.”

Such craft is all the more reason we wish to eat the cake and have it.

A cake too pretty to eat, but a sentiment too sweet to not consume and enjoy!

I like the term “sugar craft” for the decorations on a cake. It is the first time I’ve heard it, but it might be what is pastry chefs normally call it.

It is called sugar craft when they don’t use too much of cream, but a sugar-butter dough to create decorations.
