Trap

The devil shrieks, “She’s up again”, and I rise from bed with a spring in my step.

It is a story I tell myself to keep morale up for a challenging day.

I’m known as a tease, a temptress, a shrew, and a manipulator as I juggle several hats to keep the show going.

I dress in a web of lies and step on frozen ice to excavate secrets from Neanderthal.

I do my job well; my boss exceeds targets yet frowns again.

I’m trapped in a cage I built for I’m no mason or blacksmith, and magicians shun me.

  1. I’m with Frank, great line:

“...dress in a web of lies and step on frozen ice to excavate secrets from Neanderthal.”

(to borrow from a famous Latin quote*) she should not relax too much, for who hunts the Predator. Which, of course, totally tempts one of glimpses of future storylines.

    *”Quis custodiet ipsos custodes”
