The mirror mocks my vanity.
showing dimensions I ignored
It questions authenticity
changing reflections with the light
What kind of input do I give?
The mirror mocks my vanity,
displaying a new perspective
transforming what it did not make
demands of credibility
from those who made me what I am
The mirror mocks my vanity,
making dents in my confidence
it takes an army to break me;
make me shape my self-perception
question pictures that look like me
The mirror mocks my vanity.

Reena this is so powerful – particularly because it’s so relatable… I think we all experience this quite often.

Excellent Reena! You captured the problem of self-perception, societal expectation, and the ever changing standard of beauty that women chase! ❤

Self image and our perceptions I feel is a great take on this theme. There is a saying ‘the mirror doesn’t lie’ isn’t there, and yet I feel the mirror totally shows a mere reflection at a certain angle that we cannot extend, a photo cannot capture, and we see what others don’t. We look deep into the mirror for a short time, most of the time we feel who we are and we will never see what others do – this has such depth Reena – well done
