Sunflowers at Night

All attachments live in the same place – codependence. They are beautiful while they last, but deep down, I sense a struggle to find meaning in being alone and independent.

Sunflowers often ask the night why do they have to close their petals and turn west at dusk. And the night has no answers, since it cannot photosynthesize. Together, the lament their dependence on the Sun.

a secret desire
to find nourishment elsewhere
liberate itself
from the omnipresent God
they dream of meaningful nights
