Before you judge

Give me time before you judge.

Give me time to build a life worth showcasing, and then let it lose relevance.

Time, the Ultimate Thief robs all achievements of their short-lived glory and diminishes the glow of self-esteem.

I watch the idol being pulled down, whose neck appeared to bow a little daily with the weight of garlands. It looks ashamed of the history he created, only to be obliterated and overwritten by the ambitious.

I reread every page of my book and wonder if it will resonate with the future in the same way as it touches my soul today.

Give me a definable physique, and I’ll bury my soul in a scrapbook with the photographs and moss.

I’ll allow the future to choose what it wants – a peek into my thoughts or stories superimposed on pictures.

I’ll bless it with a soul.

  2. This is an intriguing piece and reminds me of Ozymandias and how all statues, greatness come to pass. The photograph you use too carries a sense of power and powerlessness. Judgement day for the soul. Very philosophical but I can also see from your link about political figures and the image created. Really links into the scrapbook and moss mood.

  3. An interesting and intriguing perspective in your Prosery piece, Reena. I agree that ‘Time, the Ultimate Thief robs all achievements of their short-lived glory and diminishes the glow of self-esteem.’ I would like to know more about the idol and why it was pulled down.
