The picture shows Radhika Merchant-Ambani (the bride in the most opulent wedding in India) wearing a hand-painted skirt. 12 panels of a unique canvas imported from Italy were used since the fabric would have stiffened and lost shape with dried paint.

The artist is Jayasri Burman, who hopes the garment will hang on the walls of the Ambani residence someday. It takes a village to bring art to life in this manner. Abu Jani—Sandeep Khosla, the couturier, worked on stylist Rhea Kapoor’s concept, giving Burman total artistic freedom.
