The picture shows Radhika Merchant-Ambani (the bride in the most opulent wedding in India) wearing a hand-painted skirt. 12 panels of a unique canvas imported from Italy were used since the fabric would have stiffened and lost shape with dried paint.
The artist is Jayasri Burman, who hopes the garment will hang on the walls of the Ambani residence someday. It takes a village to bring art to life in this manner. Abu JaniโSandeep Khosla, the couturier, worked on stylist Rhea Kapoor’s concept, giving Burman total artistic freedom.
A pliable canvas
bows to the rich
-handmade elegance
crafted with money
-a grateful artist
denigrates herself
to celebrate celebrities

I’m curious about the use of denigrate in this context. Is it a sign of disapproval?

No. Just that she gave all credit to the wearer and how she made the art come alive.
