Dawn breaks over the Seine, casting golden hues upon the Eiffel Tower. Athletes gather, hearts drumming in sync with the city’s pulse. The Olympic torch ignites, passing from hand to hand—a beacon of unity.
The City of Light, adorned in Olympic splendour, welcomes the world. Streets echo with anticipation, a symphony of languages and dreams. Paris, where history and athleticism intertwine, becomes the epicentre—a canvas for feats and stories.
In this fleeting dance, it becomes more than a city—a heartbeat, a legacy. Olympians etch their names into its cobblestone streets, and the Seine carries their stories to distant shores.
Golden sunsets fade,
champions’ footsteps echo
Paris dreams in gold.

Really enjoyed your Olympic-sized haibun, especially the closing haiku.

I love the way you set the scene in the opening paragraph, Reena, and that you focused on that all the way through your haibun. I especially enjoyed ‘streets echo with anticipation, a symphony of languages and dreams’ and ‘a canvas for feats and stories’. You haiku gleams!

Thank you so much! I’m not a sports enthusiast, so it was focussing more on the location.

Neither am I. And with the world in turmoil, I don’t have the bandwidth to focus on sports

True. It’s tough managing whatever we pursue. Checking out what we are not interested in does feel like a burden.
I’ve learnt to let go of prompts that do not resonate.

I do that too, except some I’ve doing for a long time.
