irrelevant sidewalks
look wistfully
at speeding cars
on the expressway
focus only on
chalk-white arrows

-sprouting greens
-a flower peeping
from asphalt cracks
-rolled down rocks
stuck in a wire mesh
ask for participation
in fast-moving life

a camera click
whizzes past
records a moment
to be shared
while breathing
peppermint winds
in the countryside

the sidewalk ends
where the tunnel begins
-it loses attention
of passers-by
to artificially lit dark
waiting to come out
at the other end
-maybe with a faint memory
of what they left behind
