Fragment Poem

Chosen 13 lines from my poem titled Eternity

a day, a month,
a year, a decade,
a century, an age
ride on predecessors
-carry bits of them
like concealed colors
of a spectrum
-highlight their gold
-leave imprints
on transient sand
knowing
the future will interpret
stories as they like

NEW POEM WITH INSERTED FRAGMENTS

desperation clutching on to
self-defined routines
non-negotiable
it is the only way to survive
a day, a month
maybe
a year, a decade

then it hits hard
it’s her contribution
to the plight of womanhood
across
a century, an age
because she chose
to ride on predecessors
failed to live her own life
setting examples
was beyond boundary lines

she rues her inadequacy
watches the demons
carry bits of them
like concealed colours

revelation of which
shows the environment in bad light
they invent grandiosity
of a spectrum
highlight their gold

Both creators of a future
leave imprints
on transient sand

but in different ways

both vulnerable
in their passivity
or aggression
knowing
or not knowing
the future will interpret
stories as they like

  1. I like this form and your example of it, Reena, – it’s like adding yeast or a sourdough starter to flour and getting a whole new loaf…
