A card number and OTP
is all I need to indulge
in fashion
or dressing soup for the soul
looking in the mirror
makes me long for trial rooms
I wish I knew how it would look on me
I don’t know what will trend
offline shopping
or online trials
I gather courage
to look at myself
beyond lenses and screens
sometimes without a filter
Acceptance gains new dimensions
first from myself
then the disparaging looks
from the rest of the world

Very well written Reena. Two lines in the last two paraghs did the magic for me “Courage to look at myself beyond the lenses and screens ” and “Acceptance gain new dimension”

Too much work just to please others. Dress to make yourself happy.

Forgetting fashion and being comfortable in one’s own skin(s) is the only goal worth pursuing Reena…
(Clothes are just alternate skins)

I like ” dressing soup of the soul”.

I couldn’t think of anything better at that moment 🙂 But dressing well does give a mood uplift.

It certainly does and I found the description very apt. 😊

I don’t particularly enjoy shopping, but I can relate to the perception–how we see ourselves and how others do (or how we think they do).

Fashion is all about that isn’t it…? how to be viewed by others.

True. But we decide how to project ourselves in line with a perceived identity.
