Consumed

She threw back the glass of wine and stormed out of the room.

It was out of sheer disgust for the people she trusted most. She was game for celebrating their own victories but not the misfortune of a perceived rival.

She migrated to another country and won accolades for her performance at work.

Today is different. She has won a β€œLifetime Achievement Award.”

β€œDoes it mean my career has ended?” she asks the presenter cheekily.

β€œNot at all. A criminal in your home country has confessed to lacing your drink with snake venom – on the same day that you walked out after a tiff with him.

If you had consumed it, they would have consumed you.

You  are a winner for being a rebel, not just a good performer.”
