This is a fascinating place.
The roads are bifurcated into two colours – black and white, and so are the buildings on both sides. There are a few coloured cars that appear to quiver on the road, undecided on which way to go. The traffic lights are not red and green but say Yes or No.
Yes, or No …. To what?
I landed here with a free fall from an aircraft. I’m not sure if there is a rescue team looking for me. I might as well explore this place a little more.
The denizens look at me suspiciously and want to know which world I come from. I look at them with askance – how many worlds exist in the universe? I know only the planet I was born and raised in and then unceremoniously dropped. I shudder to think of that. Was it an accident, conspiracy or attempt to murder?
People here are no better than the politicians in my country. They are debating which world they should be aligned to and have been unable to conclude anything.
Some would like to be non-aligned for a vague reason – you never know whose help you might need. Others have questions about visitation and citizenship rights. They have a wobbly legal system that keeps shape-shifting.
The elderly person in the park says they are not sure if they want to be a bridge between the two worlds or a divider. Well, that’s a million-dollar question. I express gratitude for the perspective and then ask,
“But where did you come from?”
“It appears we got ejected from some planet during a cosmic explosion. Nobody has come forward to reclaim us so far.”
Well, that sounds similar to my situation…

Fascinating Reena! A well thought out piece for sunday confessionals! xo

Thank you 😊 The prompt was a ‘city between two worlds’. I hope I did justice to it.
