stories have a way of repeating themselves
when writers have relinquished all rights
characters not only rule but change form
they write new stories disowned by authors
I don’t know who these people are
why should they do whatever they do
why do they provoke suppressed rage
why do they dig long-forgotten graves
mere sketches in ink holding spades
is that a jack, king, queen or ace
they should die after the end
characters from stories are a menace

Honestly ma’am I love how you have used playing cards as the characters in the poem. Simply brilliant ❤️

We give the cards a personality. Why not use those? 🙂

Reena, your reverse poem brilliantly delves into the complexities of storytelling, offering a dual perspective that adds depth! The line “characters from stories are a menace” resonates powerfully with me, encapsulating the tumult fictional entities can bring…
