stories have a way of repeating themselves
when writers have relinquished all rights
characters not only rule but change form
they write new stories disowned by authors

I don’t know who these people are
why should they do whatever they do
why do they provoke suppressed rage
why do they dig long-forgotten graves

mere sketches in ink holding spades
is that a jack, king, queen or ace
they should die after the end
characters from stories are a menace
