see churning of souls in a grand design
I wish I knew how, I wish I knew why
I can’t discern motives of the drama divine
I see candles flicker, I hear the bells chime
I watch oceans shiver till they run dry
see churning of souls in a grand design
rewards and losses – for no reason or rhyme
blame Karma or grab spoils on the sly
I can’t discern motives of the drama divine
Not a moment extra, warn wheels of Time
live to lose, lose to win but you can’t cry
see churning of souls in a grand design
inflated egos celebrate, dance and decline
tragedy queens smile with a humour wry
I can’t discern motives of the drama divine
breathe in the glory, glow in sunshine
go with the flow, and don’t ask why
see churning of souls in a grand design
I can’t discern motives of the drama divine

The hectic of life shows us the best answer is to accept reality as it is otherwise it will drive us slowly insane! Well written, Reena!

Reena, thank you for choosing me as poet of the week, I feel humbled. Your villanelle is spot on. The churning of souls comes across so clearly, and the struggle to understand weighs beyond our comprehension. There is a sense of inevitability in this poem and the struggle to accept that which seems to be . A very profound Villanelle

We have to take the rough with the smooth. The essence of embracing life in all its chaos and beauty. Loved your response Reena. 🙏💜

Reena, your villanelle is a captivating reflection on the enigmatic dance of life, beautifully expressed through the repetition of “see churning of souls in a grand design.” The acceptance of life’s unpredictable rewards and losses, the acknowledgment of inflated egos, and the call to embrace the flow without questioning are so relatable.
