Choice in times of dictatorship

Screens ask me to prove
I’m human
I’m tempted to say I’m not
and see what happens
Will the computer be extra friendly
Will I be more acceptable
across boundaries?

It’s not only Google Search
humans complete my sentences
Imposing their views on what
I’d just begun to say
-predictive intelligence
helps machines create systems
in a vacuum
choice in the time of dictatorship

expression in times of censorship
both cyber and human
independence of thought
in times of machine learning
algorithms written by don’t-know-who
-edited highlights of select stories
will rule the world
Who am I, and
Who are you?

and these shapeless currents
with opinions and
wind in their sails?
-the will and soul
anachronisms in a systems era

  1. It surprises me when they ask to tick a box to prove that I’m not a robot. Will robot explore silly sites like me? Brilliant post, Reena. ‘humans complete my sentences
    Imposing their views on what
    I’d just begun to say’
    So true.
