each time
negativity jumps at us
to dent self-confidence
or uses irrelevant stuff
to enforce compliance
Reinstate the fence
-boundaries are fluid
we let people in
from time to time
We’ve to fight hard
to not let them have
a sliver of our souls
each time
negativity jumps at us
to dent self-confidence
or uses irrelevant stuff
to enforce compliance
Reinstate the fence
-boundaries are fluid
we let people in
from time to time
We’ve to fight hard
to not let them have
a sliver of our souls
AMEN! Excellently written, Reena.
Much love,
David

Certain things has to be defended…. splitting the soul sound like it would create Voldemorts out of people.

I love this so much. It is timely for my life right now. So many people have such a problem with pleasing people that they forego their own boundaries (if they have any at all); people seem to struggle with allowing others to have their own boundaries as well.

Your last line hits the nail on the head. Having boundary lines is seen as being unsociable.

I can identify with your quadrille, Reena; I’m fed up with negativity and having my self-confidence dented. I’m holding on tightly to my a sliver of a soul.

It is actually gaslighting, though I’ve not used the word. The only effective way is to build strong boundary lines.
Power to you! Thanks for sharing, Kim!
