Vanity – a thing of the past

I am a lighthouse
-in search of darkness
to obliterate
-in search of ships
to seek direction

the ocean laughs hysterically
waves slap my idle limbs
my forlorn face stares at the Moon
It dodges my wistful glance
and seeks the Sun

I wonder if ships are anchored
to a safe harbour…
Do I need to start walking
and find the sky that shelters them?

only if the distance
from one island to another
can be covered
by incomplete arcs
strewn around in the universe.

  1. Reena, and when we are at our most helpless and desperate, we turn to them. Being the ultimate creator, you would hope God would set aside ego and hold the candle of the lighthouse up without a second thought.
