Growing, not getting old

putting wheels of thought on hold
-life in deep slumber
young and fresh when I wake – Age
is just a number

I spend the night floating on
undulating dreams
I let them gush through with force
or a gentle stream

I wake at the crack of dawn
rubber meets the road
drive again or pay a fine
stay alive, not old

  4. “Old” is not a useful word. Neither to describe age nor to describe relative condition. It’s subjective and varies in meaning from person to person. “Growing” is also imprecise and contains obscure inference, IMO.

    “Becoming older,” is something we all do as long as we are alive. “Becoming older” is accurate and a neutral description of the process.

    “Old” is a poor communication choice for anyone who is becoming older.

    1. The word ‘used goods’ has given way to ‘preloved goods’. Both are negative in a way. Your comment compels me to think if there can be a better way to describe those awaiting a new lease of life. Words drive thoughts, as thoughts hunt for new words.
