Petrichor

“Where do you think you’ll go?” Amina asks with concern.

“Back to my village. I can’t afford rent in a city without a job,” Ahana was one of the many employees laid off by a loss-making startup.

The doorbell breaks the silence in the room, and minutes later, Ahana is unpacking her bags.

“I was not aware some employers attach value to lessons learnt from failure,” her voice is chirpy again.

Ahana thinks of ways to celebrate the next job offer, and Amina looks happy on not losing her roomie. Petrichor fills up the tiny room, as she opens the window to see the impact of first rainfall in the season.
