Sets, spaces and infinity

Sets emphasize the need for a limited space for relevance and effectiveness. Theories and formulae do not work beyond that.

One can see the principle being followed in politics, civic administration and corporates. Lines of authority and command areas are clearly defined.

Space is a more flexible term leading to infinity. It indicates the potential for expansion. It prevents people from developing slave mindsets. They need to dig into their capacity to know what more can be done.

Infinity is a term in mathematics, yet feels poetic. It reminds me of the sky. One can never touch or feel it, yet it is omnipresent. It becomes a boundary line when we say ‘sky is the limit’, but we do not know where it lies.

Maybe, infinity is needed to make sense of all that is beyond our limited realms of knowledge.

We move from relevant to irrelevant, effective to worthless, giant humans to tiny dots in the universe, as we move from sets to spaces to infinity. I’d like to see it as a continuum than compartmentalised spaces. Each person, group or nation finds its relevance somewhere. They encroach on or invade other spaces to expand this feeling of relevance.

I will close this with a favourite saying of mine

“The beauty of chaos is that everything finds its own space, without significant inputs.”

Hope it gives you more food for thought.
