A place called Home

“Who says you can’t buy love?”
A billboard screams….
soft, tiny barking sounds
light up the place
They sell puppies here
invite people
to give them a home.

But seriously, can I?
Are there other beings
who find their way into hearts?
make any place their home
with love and loyalty
brand it with indelible memories
pranks, sweetness,
love, just love
and some more love…

Sometimes
they leave the home they built
with a permanent void
drowned in tears of inmates…

or they decide to wait
for the Master to come back
from other dimensions
knowing well
that no world
can give him
the kind of home
they built.

  6. I like where the prompt has taken you, Reena. Although I am a cat lover, I also like dogs, and you are so right about dogs finding their way into hearts and making any place their home. Our dog, Jasper, who’s been gone a long time now, is irreplaceable, as you say he has left ‘a permanent void’. A pet does make a home a home.
