“I’m shocked how could Lisa marry a person like that shady character Tony.”
“As far as I know they were interacting online for a major part of their courtship period.”
“How does that make a difference?”
“Lisa was shown a series of screenshots as a video, not the truth concealed between those, and she was naïve enough to believe it. Messaging does not show body language. There is no transparency of intention even on video calls.”

True ma’am. Shady minds can easily shapeshift in the online world. When you meet a person in real life, you know who they really are. 😄

It is the bane of relationships in this era.

There have been researchers who have said that 80% of communication is non-verbal. Regardless of whether this percentage is totally accurate or not, I think we need to remember this when we have online conversations.

Fully agree. Those emojis have added to confusion in the world 🙂 though I use a few.

I’ve known people who met online (or years ago, through a “pen pal” series of letters), but only if they courted for a time once they met did it actually work out.

I remember those ‘pen pal’ pages in magazines. The world has evolved since then.
Lately, online dating has also led to something called ‘matrimonial frauds’ where women have parted with money, imagining they’d get married in the near future.

Call me old fashioned but I can’t imagine dating online. There’s so much that goes on irl with the other person that you can’t get from a screen. I doubt you can experience that “electric” feeling you get when you’re really connect with someone!

I guess expectations have changed. The older generation won’t go with it.
I heard a girl say “Who has the time to meet so many people F2F?” The point is ‘so many’.

Very true.
The responsibility we all bear in participating in a relationship is much higher than it is in the ‘real’ world.
Thought-provoking Six.

Good reminder: “Messaging does not show body language.” It is easy to mistake intention.

IMO, it’s a very big problem in the current dating scenario.
