all those words hanging in oblivion
unheard, ignored, misunderstood
all those emotions unexpressed
devalued, unrecognized or crushed
all those open communication loops
unable to regroup, they droop
scream for attention, ask for closure…
I wake up in sweat, It’s a nightmare
I wake up to reassure they exist
I acknowledge what originates in me
I’m not responsible for receiver’s apathy
They live by their own values
They have their own priorities
throw not pearls to a swine
but oysters don’t stop
making pearls aligned
to their purpose- not dropped
The body, heart and mind
act, think, react, respond
-Yet remain inextricably mine
Love pampers ego, if not stymied
but does not create a new me
-what’s authentic is the thought
something we were never taught
-what’s real happens within me
unabsorbed influence come to naught

I wish that I understood poetry better, but I do appreciate how you are able to add deep meaning with your words.

“I,’m not responsible for receiver’s apathy
They live by their own values

and then the comment about the pearls and the swine….
wow! You’ve laid it on the line here. Well done!

A most stunning response to the prompt, Reena! Love indeed flourishes when words are understood rather than ignored. It is absolutely vital, for without it.. the bond would cease to exist. There is no I .. in love. Not really .. and those who are unable to offer warmth and affection in the relationship are hardly worthy of it. I so love and resonate with these lines; “throw not pearls to a swine but oysters don’t stop making pearls aligned to their purpose.” You have my heart with this one.
Thank you so much for writing to the prompt! Happy Valentine’s Day ❤️❤️❤️

An interesting approach to the prompt and to love, Reena. I recognised the nightmare in the opening stanza, I’ve experienced it awake. Love is exciting but it’s never easy.
