Maybe there’s another chance

I find some old pictures,
try to arrange them in serial order
albums fall apart
gaps in between start shrieking

what followed is not what started
not what it was intended to be.
Which chapters do I tear off
to make the story look neat?

The gaps start screaming now
It’s about what was lacking
I was never there on the spot
and …
couldn’t ensure the plot was not lost

I ask the gaps to slow down
be silent and unobtrusive
Maybe time steps back
Maybe there’s another chance
Let not the legacy of speed make us dance

I ask the gaps not to get obsessed
not to blame and counter-blame
keep fighting a lost case
Maybe there’s another turn ahead
Maybe a story can be written afresh

  1. Our stories are always changing Reena, the longer time passes the more interwoven and mixed and mingled memories become. I think we sometimes subconsciously rearrange life to make it palatable, happy new year my friend.
