I draw the same cards, yet they don’t come up to expectations
A little jaded, they don’t feel the same or mean the same
Fool, Magician or Empress, I’ve read them all before
inanity irritates; they know not what I’m going through
A little jaded, they don’t feel the same or mean the same
I move the prism, colors and shadows seem too intense
inanity irritates; they know not what I’m going through
How can they be so rigid, when life around changed
I move the prism, colors and shadows seem too intense
shaken beliefs, altered perspectives do not let me rest
how can they be so rigid, when life around changed
I’m not the same person I was, when I met them first
shaken beliefs, altered perspectives do not let me rest
Fool, Magician or the Empress, I’ve read them all before
I’m not the same person I was, when I met them first
I draw the same cards, yet they don’t come up to expectations

So much in life is like a game of cards… but often the same thing happens but its meaning is changing… a pantoum is a great form for this.

Really well-written, Reena. Is this a villanelle? I love that first stanza particularly 🙂

This is gorgeously written. I especially relate to; “altered perspectives do not let me rest/how can they be so rigid, when life around changed/I’m not the same person I was, when I met them first.” Sigh 💘
