Accretion
Mocks expectations
why do you think
what you see
is not you
what makes you believe
authenticity lies
in outdated forms
Is it imposition
Or compression?
every moment you live
changes landscapes
of neural pathways
every thought adds
new layers of skin
you stand transformed
don’t let affectations
mar real impressions
If I drive change
steer the wheel at will-
this face is constructed by me
It is how I evolve
manifest inner change
I’ve not aged – just blossomed
mirrors show reflections
of given permissions
every moment between
stimulus and response
offered a choice
Why blame mirrors for
self-inflicted change
you can’t fathom?
Ditch preservation
to allow elevation
Prompt line
You wake up to discover a completely different, unknown face staring back at you from the mirror.
