“It’s a strange city. Why would anyone hang shoes up there?”
“Get used to being in a city of high achievers. The shoes are left behind by people who fly away to meet their lofty goals.”
“And they want their shoes to be available on dropping down from gorgeous heights?’
“No. We keep those as a reminder that they belong here. They are welcome back to roots as and when they choose to return. An astronaut’s shoe hangs there amongst many.”
“Yes. I can see the footwear brand being highlighted. I’m sure astronauts charge astronomical amounts for the brand endorsement?”

So many layers to unpack, in such a short story. Beautifull!

I like that idea for the hanging shoes. Having a forever place to call home is a lovely thought. Using it as advertising? Not so lovely.

I like the idea of the hanging shoes being not only a reminder of success but an ongoing welcome for the successful to visit anytime.

that sounds about right, everything can be made into an advertisement. Great story and commentary.

Thank you, David! And they have the temerity to call it ‘setting the sky on fire’.

Who knew we needed hanging shoes for inspiration? Nicely crafted, Reena.

Those could have been artificial wings or wheels. Just depends on what are you selling.

That would work – as long as your eyesight is good enough to read the labels!

High achievers indeed. They’d better hope they don’t need their shoes back on re-entry though!
