A child prays…
When did happiness become a contraband good?
It needs to be smuggled in the form of a cartoon flick when parents aren’t around or that ice-cream stolen from the fridge.
Why do they attach future loss to a pleasure indulged in right now? I live in the moment, and they- in fear of an imagined future.
Dear God, please help them… Amen!

It seems that today’s children, with their fears and worries, are adults in little bodies. 😢

They get concentrated doses of everything in life.

Well done, Reena. And I agree, “eat dessert first, life is uncertain.” 🙂

Reena,
Perfectly understandable prayer, I’d say. And reasonable. Why live in the future and steal today’s thunder?
