The palace is not desolate any more, walk without fear
fossilised stories come to life – stones speak
I see each expression, feel each nuance
they review themselves – pain, fear, arrogance
fossilised stories come to life – stones speak
Did they do right, or was it an error of judgement?
they review themselves – pain, fear, arrogance
I’m awed by new perspectives springing out of stones
Did they do right, or was it an error of judgement?
The palace is not desolate any more, walk without fear
I’m awed by new perspectives springing out of stones
I see each expression, feel each nuance

A excellent poem in both form and function. Well done, Reema.

Stones do hold stories, the balustrades and architecture laid by human hands. Pretty remarkable, what was done in olden days. Nowadays we can’t even get the potholes out of our frickin’ roads!

Stones do sometimes speak if we are quiet and attentive.

A lovely, haunting pantoum. I think we really can feel something in some places–the “stones speak.” Thank you.

‘fossilised stories come to life – stones speak’ – I really feel this when I walk inside old buildings.

Stones see so much. Matter is considered to be compressed energy, so some day they might move and speak.

Such a clever style…and lovely notion, of “reading” history in stones with so much to say…
