“Why are these five publications not echoing our stance on burning topics? Only fear and greed will keep people on your side – where have you failed that they still stand on isolated platforms…” the Boss is furious, not used to facing failure or opposition.
It is only a matter of time before this fury will turn incendiary, and burn independent thought processes. Blind devotion is called for – to historical figures not connected to the present situation, but those who hold an emotional appeal to the masses.
Soon, they will kill each other or die of scarcity, in the name of loyalty to an unknown and irrelevant cause.
“It will be too late before you see the connection between your unquestioning allegiance and their aspiration to absolute power – over minds, souls and wealth.” Lost last words these….

Food for thought, for sure!

History repeating itself on a loop. Frightening. Very well told.

All too realistic, Reena, and well written. Brings to mind this quote from George Orwell: ‘The process [of mass-media deception] has to be conscious, or it would not be carried out with sufficient precision, but it also has to be unconscious, or it would bring with it a feeling of falsity and hence of guilt…. To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just so long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies all this is indispensably necessary.’

Wonderful, Doug and thanks a ton! I will save this quote. It confirms my thought process.

Blows my mind how easily people are led. Create enough energy and emotion, speak with authority and make statement of fact anything that serves the purpose (of garnering “blind allegiance”). Then sit back and watch a small group grow larger. It appears fewer are those who do not succumb to peer pressure than those who do.

You describe the process so well.

This is totally apposite, Reena, as I have spent the last couple of hours trudging through a website featuring ‘The lies, falsehoods and misrepresentations of Boris Johnson and his government.’
The allegiance of the media is a major factor in keeping the public – the electorate! – utterly in the dark.

Non-aligned media and the fourth pillar of democracy are long dead. Channels & publications stop getting ads, and their revenues channels are choked, as soon as they speak against power.

I wonder why followers can’t see through it. Once the decision making capability is killed, they are putty in the hands of vested interests.

We seem to be seeing this more and more. People don’t appear to question what they’re being presented with. It’s on the ‘net (or wherever), it must be true. *shakes head*
