The Palace of Wheels, Rajasthan, India
“There was a girl in the compartment. She asked if I’ve come for her, and gave me this piece of paper.”
The attendant quietly took the paper from me, and scanned it.
“Here it is ….. November, 1960”
“What does that mean?”
“It’s the spirit of a girl who died in a sandstorm, while waiting for her saviour to arrive.”
“What’s that got to do with me?”
“She found a bridge to nowhere, and no one waiting on the other end.” His voice dripped in sadness.
Am I the saviour who did not reach her?

Superb. Somewhat like ‘ Lekin”

“She found a bridge to nowhere, and no one waiting on the other end.” This line broke my heart.

Thank you, Alicia! What can one expect from nowhere? (On an optimistic note, it reads as Now Here ☺️)

Sixty years too late? That answers the question, ‘What if?’

Actually, no, I’m not. I’ve watched a few “classic” black and white horror films from the 1950’s or so, but not the modern stuff… scares me too much and I wake up screaming. Reading them, though, doesn’t often have the same effect.

Interesting spin, Reena. Good that we’re given second chances.

She’s already waited a long time. Maybe it’s time for the savior to get a move on 🙂
