I once met a renowned author. Neither did I take a selfie, nor autograph …. just stopped reading his books.
You can feel, not define unquenched thirst
as eyes grow weak, but books come first
dark-rimmed glasses frame my old face
showcasing a mind one cannot ace
as eyes grow weak, but books come first
I befriend authors, meeting them never
showcasing a mind one cannot ace
they may not match etymological grace
I befriend authors, meeting them never
You can feel, not define unquenched thirst
they may not match etymological grace
dark-rimmed glasses frame my old face

Lovely! The image of age with the glasses, of time passing. Beautiful.

When the mind behind the book doesn’t match the person attached to it, there’s no denying the disappointment. I admire the form of this poem, Reena. Does it have a name?

That’s an interesting concept–etymological grace. While the author you met and disliked so much may have used words well, he clearly understood very little about grace!

Thank you, Linda! There are so many who hire ghost writers. Somehow, the personality does not match the thoughts expressed.

They do say you should never meet your heroes – probably the same for authors!
